Final Days In Uganda

We are taking it easy our last 2-days in Kampala. Due to people's flights the team came back in early & those remaining are doing simple things like Christmas shopping. There will likely be our big de-briefing tomorrow & prep for next semester. I really believe that the team needs to realize that this project is poised to moved quickly forward.

Final Uganda Days

The team received some validation of their design today! This is after an interesting trip down from the mountaintop site on a rain wet "road", the day before. We have received an inordinately friendly receptions wherever we've traveled. This has been extremely exciting for the team.

While sitting for awhile I realized that I should've photographed the items I saw be transported on the backs of bicycles, including: bed frame, bundles of sticks, chickens, water bottles, milk pail, people, homemade charcoal...

In Uganda

So, after more hiccups in Rome & Istanbul we're all in Uganda! Some of us made a quick visit into Istanbul for a coupe of hours and were all impressed. I have accounted for roughly 40-hours in 3-days having been spent: commuting, queuing, phoning, e-mailing, waiting, sleeping on floors, & general silliness getting to Rome to meet up with the team...

We got into Uganda at 5am and slept in until 10am before we hit it hard. Visited a coffee processor, saw Kampala & ate great street food for dinner (a few of us that is). Tomorrow we're up at 8am to get on the road.

Speaking of motorcycle taxis (Boda) we have seen them transporting many people, a full set of car tires, 10-plastic lawn chairs & a frig!

Snowed In

So, London it is! A spot of snow obvoiusly shut-downs Heathrow, so what's guy to do?! Go see some art, it is. Made it to the Tate...someplace new. Then spent way too much time setting up transport to Rome! Seems we're all good, finally.

On the telly

Were we on the Telly? We were part of a mass delay on British Air & are hoping to get to Rome this afternoon. Of course the cancellation wasn't announced immediately so there was lots of sitting around. I hope we won't be forced to trains-planes-automobiles this...we can't miss our flight to Uganda!

Delay

Things were going well, 'til the first stop...a centimeter of snow throws these Brits off...been hanging at Heathrow 4-hours now. Had some bangers & mash and now enjoying a Ginger beer. They claim to have a plane, but no gate... We'll see. I'm considering a revolution...

Photography

So, early Christmas present of a point-n-shoot...almost twice the mega pixels + additional 1x zoom. Lets see if the comments on my photography are even better than they were...considering the LCD isn't broken on this one...

Introduction

Hopefully this will allow me to share Uganda with the family & I can be a bit wordy...
